What Women Want – It’s All About Heels

What women want… It’s all about the heels

I don’t know who invented high heels but all women owe him a lot
-Marilyn Monroe

As women we just love the high heels – sometimes the higher the better. They make our legs look longer and sexier, we feel taller and more confident. We marvel at the models on the runway who manage to walk in the narrowest of stilettos and now we add platforms for that extra bit of daring – oh my god what are we thinking??

As soon as we view the latest fashion magazines we rush off to our computers to view the celebrity style and find out how quickly we can be wearing the latest ‘must have’ shoe.

They say that in times of recession – sales increase in two things – lipstick and shoes. Why you ask – well apparently it is all about looking and feeling good despite all the negative hype around us. I say bring it on – I don’t usually need an excuse to shop.

Now that we have that sorted – let’s take a look at some of the latest styles to help us with our shoe infatuation.

Pointy toe pumps are back – look fabulous with jeans, work suits, or those high waisted skirts that still seem be back in vogue too.

The Gladiator – and its multitude of variations on the theme is Outfit Stud Heels still huge. As Carried showed in STC the Gladiator shoe can be worn with almost anything – in fact after STC the number of women buying metallic or white Gladiator shoes to wear with their wedding dresses increased dramatically.

Animal print – what more can we say. A girl can never have too much animal print. This season look out for pumps, flats or open toes in leopard, tiger or zebra print.

Pop your feet in a pair of sexy ankle boots. Call them shoe boots, shooties or booties – ankle boots are amazingly versatile as they can go with a variety of winter outfits and can be dressed up or dressed down. The all new range of ankle boots this winter come embellished with high heels, ribbons, faux fur, and laces to meet your every fashion wish.

Zips, studs and lace ups have also made a big come back. Zips at the front or rear of the high stiletto shoes, Oxford shoes this time with thicker laces or ribbons and in traditional black and white continue to be high on the list of ‘must have’ shoes.

Boots are strong again – this time the fringed suede boot is back. Made popular again by celebrities including Mischa Barton and Kate Moss. These boots are flat, comfortable and easy to get into – worn with jeans, leggings or skirts they look fabulous.

Riding boots – whilst never really out of fashion have reached new heights – now many of them extend past the knee, but there are plenty available just under the knee.

Whatever you decide to wear, remember that shoes form a big part of our personality and enable us to be the characters we wish to be.
